CVU-At-A-Glance (Open House)

Please join me on Thursday, October 2, from 6:15-8:40 p.m. for CVU-at-a-Glance, our version of Open House. The purpose of the evening is to meet your student's teachers and advisor and hear about the content, skill and behavioral expectations in each of your student's courses. Individual Parent-Teacher-Student conferences will be on November 24 and 25 or you can contact your child’s teacher directly at any time if you have questions or concerns.

The schedule is posted below. Teachers will be in the scheduled rooms to meet parents for 10 minutes for each class.  There is a passing time of five minutes between sessions. The advisor will have a copy of your child’s schedule for you to follow for the evening.

If during this evening your child’s schedule indicates a free block, please be sure to take this time to visit the Library, Cafeteria, and the Direction Center. Refreshments will be available in the Cafeteria and the Direction Center— please stop by!

 Hope to see you!

Important Message From CVU Health Office

Students have been given the Health Emergency Field Trip Form for the 2014-2015 school year. These green forms were handed out and collected in advisory. These forms should be filled out and returned to school as soon as possible.

In the past, parents have confused our health form with the forms that need to be filled out for sports. Our Health Emergency Form is a different form that must be filled out for every student. A student must have this Emergency form filled out to be able to participate in any field trip here at school. The updated health information allows the health office to meet the individual needs of each student. The Medical Emergency and Field Trip Information form can also be found on our Health Office website. We appreciate your help in filling these forms out and returning them as soon as possible.  If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Megan Campbell, RN, Allyssa Cioffi, RN, and Heather Holmes in the health office at 482-7184.

CVU Food Services

Welcome all new students and welcome back upperclass students!

Parents of freshmen should be aware that restrictions on student accounts in K-8 schools do not carry over to CVUHS. Please contact me directly with any student concerns.  I hope that students are enjoying the many different choices that we offer each & every day!  I encourage parents to schedule a time with me if they would like a tour of the Cafe, to see how things "work," and to enjoy a breakfast or lunch "on your student"!  You should be able to find most all information that you will need on our website at http://cafe.cvuhs.org/, including our new
trifold daily menu along with our posted daily specials.  If there are any questions, concerns or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Email is my preferred method of communication, but please feel free to contact me by phone if you prefer.  My email is llaforce@cvuhs.org and the Cafe phone number is 802-482-7176.

Co-Curricular Updates

CVU Key Club
Key Club is the CVU chapter of Key Club International. This is the student version of the Kiwanis Club. We promote community service, fundraising for charities, and volunteering. We meet every RED Wednesday in room 204 at 7:45 AM. We welcome students of any grade to join. To be a member in good standing, we ask that students do a minimum of 20 hours of community service work each year. Most of our members do much more! We will provide links to service opportunities for students as well as do several whole-club service projects. You can like us on Facebook under "CVU Key Club" for more information.

2014 Fall Basketball Intramurals
Once again the after-school Basketball Intramural Program is off to a great start.  Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:15-5:00 p.m., our CVU students have the opportunity to get involved individually or with a group of friends to play pick-up games of basketball.  Join us any and/or all three days throughout the fall season.  This is a great way to stay active and meet new friends!  No experience required - join us when you can!  Intramurals are supervised by CVU Wellness teacher Deb Higgins.

Yearbook News

A reminder to all seniors and parents that senior pictures are due by Friday, October 31st, 2014. Information was emailed home this summer, and all seniors received an information sheet at their first class meeting on September 11th.  Seniors can stop by the yearbook office, Room 118, if they need a copy of this handout.

Just a reminder to order your 2015 yearbook early through http://www.jostens.com/.  Extra copies available at the end of the school year will be sparse, so it is very important to place your order early.
The 2015 yearbook is being created as an after-school activity; it is no longer offered as a class.  The yearbook club would appreciate any photos of sports, extracurricular events, drama productions, or any CVU-related function that anyone would like to submit.  Photos can be sent to Jacob Safari, Yearbook Advisor, at jsafari@cvuhs.org.

Also students picture days will be on September 26th and November 3rd of this year. Students need only have their picture taken on one day or the other.
We are fortunate to have several town newspapers who include information on events, sports and happenings at CVU.  Here are the links to their sites that you may want to check out.

Attendance Reminder

Please remember that when your student is out due to illness, appointments, or any reason, a call to his/her house office is required on the day of the absence.  Please call if your student will be arriving late, leaving early, or even if s/he is leaving and then returning.  (If your student is leaving during a free block, a call is still needed).  Calls should be received in the house office by 9:30 a.m. whenever possible.  If your student will be missing school due to extended family vacations, etc., please notify the house office in advance so the proper paperwork may be filled out and early notification given to the teachers.
