Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
Section 504 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. A student who has a documented disability and can show "substantial limititation" when attempting to perform a major life activity as compared to average students in the population may be eligible for a plan of supports and accommodations under the auspices of Section 504.
If your student has a diagnosed disability, or if you believe that your student has an undiagnosed disability, that is negatively impacting academic performance, please call the Director of Special Services to discuss ways to access supports.
