Farm to School at CVU
What is Farm to School?
Farm to school programs bring healthy food to children nationwide by connecting schools with local farms. The goals are to serve healthy meals in cafeterias, improve student nutrition, provide food, farm, and nutrition education opportunities, and help students establish a positive relationship with food that will last a lifetime. Farm to school also helps children connect the dots by showing them where their food comes from and how their food choices impact their bodies, the environment, and their communities at large. The 3-C Approach Farm to school is a comprehensive strategy that extends beyond farm fresh salad bars and local foods in cafeterias. VT FEED has helped to pioneer the “3-C” farm to school approach, which integrates the Classroom, Cafeteria, and the Community. Click HERE to learn more! |

A special thanks to those who are supporting our work! |
March 10, 2016 - Farm to School planning workshop - Middlebury College
We spent a good part of the day planning out the next steps needed to create an agriculture experience at CVU for multiple stakeholders. We were able to network with other school groups from around the state and with our FTS advisor Ethan Bodin. As a result we came away with some tangible next steps and a to-do list for our project. February 10, 2016 - Troy Paradee, Dave Trevithick and Adam Bunting travel to Montpelier to accept the award certificate from Chuck Ross, the Secretary of Agriculture. December 2015 - CVU learns that we will be the recipient of the Vermont to School Planning & Pilot Grant for the 2015-2016 school year! November 2015 - CVU writes a grant proposal to the Farm to School program |
