CVU-At-A-Glance (Open House)
Please join me on Thursday, October 2, from 6:15-8:40 p.m. for CVU-at-a-Glance, our version of Open House. The purpose of the evening is to meet your student's teachers and advisor and hear about the content, skill and behavioral expectations in each of your student's courses. Individual Parent-Teacher-Student conferences will be on November 24 and 25 or you can contact your child’s teacher directly at any time if you have questions or concerns.
The schedule is posted below. Teachers will be in the scheduled rooms to meet parents for 10 minutes for each class. There is a passing time of five minutes between sessions. The advisor will have a copy of your child’s schedule for you to follow for the evening.
If during this evening your child’s schedule indicates a free block, please be sure to take this time to visit the Library, Cafeteria, and the Direction Center. Refreshments will be available in the Cafeteria and the Direction Center— please stop by!

Host Families Needed for Denmark
CVU will be hosting the third group of students from our sister school in Denmark this February (5th-12th). Visiting students will attend classes with their host family’s CVU student and be immersed in life as an American teen. The purpose of the program is to bring international awareness and cultural diversity to our CVU community. We are looking for 25 host families to open their homes to these international students. The requirements for the host families are providing transportation to and from school (the bus is fine), three daily meals, and helping the guest student with cultural adjustments. Families will need to complete the attached Homestay Application and any adults in the household will need to complete the Consent for Release of Registry Information form.
Because, we’re hoping to make this years’ experience with the students from Odsherreds Efterskole (OE) a true exchange, we’d love to have our students who host in February join the CVU trip to Denmark over April break (14th - 25th). This CVU Denmark Trip includes a weekend homestay, a few nights at OE with host students, and a long weekend exploring Stockholm, Sweden.

2014 Fall Basketball Intramurals
Once again the after-school Basketball Intramural Program is off to a great start. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:15-5:00 p.m., our CVU students have the opportunity to get involved individually or with a group of friends to play pick-up games of basketball. Join us any and/or all three days throughout the fall season. This is a great way to stay active and meet new friends! No experience required - join us when you can! Intramurals are supervised by CVU Wellness teacher Deb Higgins.
Fall Drama Production
This year’s musical is CHICAGO. Auditions were held in August and the actors began rehearsing before school began. Performance dates are: Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24 at 7:30 pm and Sunday October 25 at 2 pm. SAVE THE DATE.

Parents of freshmen should be aware that restrictions on student accounts in K-8 schools do not carry over to CVUHS. Please contact me directly with any student concerns. I encourage parents to schedule a time with me if they would like a tour of the Cafe, to see how things "work," and to enjoy a breakfast or lunch "on your student"!
